We leave Bocas and fly to Panama City to spend some time before heading back to Houston.  The first thing on our list of things to do was a visit to the Panama Canal.  It is an awesome sight to see how this wonder of the world works.  There are visitors from all over the world that have come to see this marvel.

We fly to Houston for six weeks.  The time there will be spent having medical check ups, hunting down and buying boat parts.  We hope to spend some time with old friends and resting up for the trip back and all the boat projects that will be on the list when we get back with all of our parts.

We fly back to Panama City where we meet up with fellow cruisers, Sonny and Kay aboard Valentina.  The four of us spend  a couple of days going around Panama City buying some of the things we knew we could get locally and not have to bring it from the states.  Friday night we caught the all night bus to Almirante.  It was a ten hour ride with the air conditioner on full blast making it about 65 degrees in the bus.  All the people on the bus were wearing coats and wrapped up in blankets.  The four of us were very happy to get off that bus and get warmed up.  We took the car ferry to Boca Del Toro in the morning and were back on Lone Star Love by 9:00am.  That was a great feeling, but now all the work starts.  We will be in the marina for another month.  During that time we will get as much completed as we can and then head out to enjoy doing all the things we enjoy doing.

Since we got back we have been working on boat project and having some fun too!  Judy has joined with other cruising ladies for the Wednesday afternoon ladies luncheon and visiting the Bocas Garden Club.  We have been hanging out around Bocas Del Toro and having fun with friends around town.

We have been working hard to get Lone Star Love ready to go.  Greg did the huge job of replacing the rear main seal on the main engine.  Now it is time to do a sea trial.  We invite some friends to go out for a day sail to check all of our systems to make sure we are ready to get out of the marina and back into our cruising lifestyle.  Sonny and Kay from Valentina and Damon from Bruadair go with us for the day.  We head to Snapper Point about two hours away.  The water looks great to go for a snorkel, so we all get geared up and do just that.  It felt so good to get out in the water.  Then we headed back to the marina and called it a day.  Everything was working properly and there were no leaks of any kind so Greg was very happy with the seal replacement.

We have ten days left in the marina to finish up any of our last minute project.  During that time there are boats dragging in the anchorage, there’s a birthday to celebrate and lots of fun games of farkle to play.

We leave Bocas Yacht Club and Marina and move out into the anchorage.  Life on the hook is so nice.  A couple of days here and we are off to explore some of the great cruising areas that surround Bocas Del Toro.

The anchor is up early in the morning.  We are headed out with Bruadair to go exploring with our first anchorage being Dolphin Bay, but we are going to take the scenic route thru “The Gap” on the way.  We end up dropping anchor in Dolphin Bay by Camryka, which is Carl and Mary’s sailboat.  We have come to Dolphin Bay to see them and their new piece of property.  What a view from the top.  They will be building soon and we plan to go back and see the progress in the near future.

Lone Star Love and Bruadair head to Hospital Bight between Cayo Nancy and Bastimentos.  We plan to meet up with Namaste’, AngelHeart and Valentina for a few days.  That evening after a long swim and walk on Red Frog Beach we all meet on Namaste’ for dinner and fun.  Cheri makes Chili for all of us and we all bring something to share.  Every person anchored there was either born or lived in Texan before their cruising lives.  Bruadair lived in Austin for many years.  Namaste’ lived in the Houston area as well as Corpus Christi.  Paul on AngelHeart was born in Houston and Mary Margaret and Paul spent time in Texas.  Valentina, Kay and Sonny are native Texans, born in the Waxahachie area and of course Lone Star Love, where else but Texas!  What a fun group.
